1. Red Lipstick- Red lips make you feel powerful! Everyone wears a glossy red or bright lip, but to be different and stand out...wear a soft red lip!

Tip: For a softer look apply lipstick in the center of your lips, than spread evenly to get the soft look. This helps prevent hard edges.

2. Crazy Eyeshadow- This is from the 80's club scene, kooky and fun.

Tip: To add some EDGE to this fabulous look, add black eyeliner along your upper lashes than trace a line of bright colored shimmer shadow above.

3. Hot Buns- Chignon, masculine or messy bun...different type of bun names.

Tip: Stand out with your bun, make it out of the ordinary, wear a funky head accessories can bring your look together.

4. Dark Eyes (also known as smokey eyes)- Eyes loaded with black shadow and eyeliner often with glittery blue, brown or a gun metal on the lids can be a night talker or attract that certain someones eye.

Tip: When wearing black eyeliner" NO Mascara!" leaving the lashes bar looks less retro, it takes away from the smokey eye and focuses on the clumpy mascara.

5. Rough Waves- With a bold eye make up and casual waves it makes the look feel young, fresh and exciting.

Tip: When doing this hairstyle wrap sections of your hair loosely around a large barrel curling iron and hold it there for a second than brush the curls out once.

6. Messy Ponytails- A loose pony tail can look fabulous, there is no right or wrong with a messy pony tail. Use your fingers as a comb to pull your hair back, for a messy but chic look.

Tip:When wearing hair accessories keep the style simple, otherwise the look becomes messy.

8. Rosy Cheeks- Everyone needs a little pink blush no matter what complexion to bring out the warmth in your face.

Tip: Its always good to apply blush on high cheek bone and not the middle. It gives it a more sophisticated look.

9. Pale Lips (My Fav!)- Soft lips such as beige and baby pink balance with all the extravagant eye make-up.

Tip- Full nude can be great on the runway but off the runway choose a shade that has a hint of pink with a hint of shimmer.

10. Nail polish-adding color in the winter gives a funky warm feeling

Tip: Be YourSelf!!!

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween gools and goublins!!!! :) I woke up this morning with three things on my mind. 1. Tay and those shoes coming to H&M (woot woot) lol 2. That I loooove halloween 3. How it is an ABSOLUTE turn on to see a man of color handling his business, being a man and taking care of responsibilty. Why I woke up with this on my mind? I have no idea. But I'm sure the ladies can agree with me on this one. There is nothing sexier then an educated BLACK man with goals, a dream and the motivation to persue both. I look at the males I have in my life and the friendships that have developed between us, along with those males I have just recently become aquainted, with such admiration. They honestly make me want to put up a feature JUST for them! If you are reading this and thinking "Oh she's talking about me" then you are most likely right. If you're reading this and wondering who I could possibly be talking about...then maybe you should have kept up with the past blog postings ;p

But I'm feeling nice today...so I will give a hinty hint lol
1. He's the "Big" Boss
2. I met him "back in the day"
3. He MADE that night! Mask, tats and blood lol (kudos to you hun)
4. He IS comedy
5. Everybody hates him lol
6. Welcome to HIS show
7. He is making history
8. He's sooo poetic
*Each hint is for a specific person

Oh, I have to say thanx a bunch for all the guys that were going to help me out with the show :D I'm sorry things didnt work out but I hope I can use you next time. Thankx again. (this goes to my girlies also)

HAPPY HALLOWEEN FROM THE SEXIEST LITTLE BEE OF THE NIGHT :)

Fab Fashion Fright Night!!

October 25Th 2009 was the Urban Finesse Fashion Show. It was pack wall to wall, everyone was looking H-O-T ...well maybe not everyone, there were a couple of mockeries that slipped in BUT other than that marvelous. TK was a great host and had everyone laughing, he talked about everyday life but made us laugh about it. A comedian to look out for is Desi he is a young funny comedian that will have you laughing and he will spice up the night. An upcoming singer you have to keep a wide open eye out for is Genesis, she is a young girl who can bolt she is a great singer, if she had a song I would download it right now on i tunes...hope to see all these people big one day because they really added something to the fashion show.

Now lets start off with the show, the Halloween themed fashion show was eye catching, and made you fell that if you looked away , you would miss something exciting. The different clothing lines were different and unique... they had cute pieces but when you would look at the pieces as a whole there was not one time you like the whole piece. I give the designers their kudos because designing clothes is a hard job, it takes time, effort, patients, detail to design clothes so I won't criticize as much. There were items that I felt with a little alteration it could be a hit, the backless outfits were my fav. What I would like to stress is that there was a lot of rear ends on the runway, and not in a good way...the girls rear ends were hanging out, if they were covered it was a little piece of Tarzan cloth, come on lets be serious, the guys loved it, the girls tried to look at the clothes but were to distracted by the lower half. I say more of the fashion and less of ass action! :). For the different Halloween scenes and skits I give them around of applause because the clothes portrayed the skits they were performing. I loved how in the skits all the girls were able to dance in higheels... Hot, Hot, Hot very impressive.

Models:

The models were on point they were fierce down the runway, and knew how to show off the clothes...there were a couple of crowd favorites who walked like they walked straight off of fashion week's runway. We can't forget about the gentlemen, they did there thing and showed off the different looks very well. They proved that men can be very versatile and look handsome even in a suit, hint hint fellas ;).

OVER ALL... The show was a hit had everybody was laughing, wanting more and just enjoying themselves. The designers and models did a great job and I look forward to their next upcoming fashion shows.

I'm Crowning myself!

Im amazed at the things that come out of peoples mouths, along with the thoughts they share with others. I know I'm not the only one that looks at how far they've come in their life and all the things that they have accomplished, truly wanting to express to some people "I got here on my own!"

People have a habit of attributing somones success to what they believe they have done. In some cases this may very well be true. But in mine....ITS NOT!

I am the only person that got me this far, with MY hard work, MY diligence, MY strength and MY mind I can say I've succeed with help of myself.

So with that being said, I want to keep this blog very short and something that I am sure many people can relate to.

Urban Finesse Fashion Show

Blue Villa...7pm...October 25,2009

Last night...was a good night! Myself and the Girls (who are now going to be writing for SweetTreatsBlog) attended the Urban Finesse Fashion Show at the Blue Villa in the Bronx. I must pay homage, the show was on point. The models, scenes, designers and clothing were all a sight to see...

But, Of course it must be said, some fashion statements that were being made by members of the audience left us speechless, each of us giving "that" look like "what in the world is going on here" or "I guess we were supposed to follow the halloween theme also?" We definitely had a good laugh.

Speaking of having a good laugh, the host (TK) was hilarious! The comedian, by the name of Desi....I have no words! As soon as he hit the stage the girls and I were dying! Jokes of stanky leg dances, slow motion, losing your job, intimate relations between men and women and men and their "member" was too funny.

The room was filled with beautiful men and women, along with a few familiar faces ;)

Performances by unsigned artists Gennesis, Fame, ChrisBlack feat. Dabbz along with some others moved my black leather high heeled boot covered feet to the beat lol.

Though there were a few things that could have been done differently, the show was a success. You will definitely see us at the next one!

Ladies in the Leggings...

Lol the things that you see on the train in nyc. I swear, early in the morning those days that Im crazy tired and feel like today is going to be the worst day ever... I get a good 'ol laugh watching people on the MTA. :)

Yesterday I was riding on the train in my leggings (looking 2cute lol) and this girl came onto the train in leggings also but I could not help but laugh. There was nothing wrong with her body or outfit...except for the fact that she was standing there with that "I know my the ish" face on and white beady beads on her black leggings. Now I know shit happens, God knows I know lol but really? You cannot convince me that she did not see ALL those lint balls on her "pants" when she was putting them on. Not to mention while I'm walking through the halls of my lovely college promoting our homecoming concert for the night and see a girl wearing a sweater mini dress (which I have no problem with) that came down to the very tip of her "goodies" wearing what I call "see through leggings". See through leggings are basically leggings that are like tights, you can see skin straight through them. I have no problem with a girl trying to be sexy, I try it all the time, but really, I along with everyone else at school does not want to see ALL of what you got to offer. If you can't hunch your back without your ass falling out you need to be wearing jeans under that. ;P

Love you ladies but lets try to make a more lady like and well dressed fashion statement

B. "The Boss" Gillings

August 2008, one year ago, the production company Straight Muzik was founded by the one and only….Brice “The Boss” Gillings. With 3mixtapes currently under his belt and 2more on the way (before the year is over) I wanted to get to know the man behind the muzik. Sooooo, let’s do it! Lol

Sitting, talking and eating (my favorite ;]) questions and answers go back and fourth across the table, information filling the room, I finally know the history of a soon to be empire :)

CEO, manager and producer extradonaire, B.Gillings, a 22year old EDUCATED, SINGLE, BLACK man from Mount Vernon possessing a laid back, sweet, all about his business, loves his work type of personality is looking to bring real music back to hip hop and POSSIBLY other genres of muzik oneday. He fell in love with muzik (his first love) at the age of 13 while singing in his church choir (I know, how cute right?) eventually moving on to rapping…realizing in 2008 that he didn’t have the same passion for rhyming as he does for producing…Straight Muzik was created. The team consists of…

Black Majik (Business partner and in house producer)
Ari (Publicist)
J (CFA; chief financial advisor)
Code (Head of promotions)
Dj Caoz (shout out to his team… Club KIllaz :D)

And the artists who keep it all going….

*Dabbz “The Fixx” out already , “Coldest Winter Ever” dropping December 25th (Christmas)
*Showoff “Welcome to the Show” dropping November 24th (Thanksgiving)
*Loose Canonz “History in the Making” out already, show coming up soon
*ChrisBlack “Everybody Hates Chris” out already, performance October 25th at the Blue Villa in the BX
*Kayos currently working on some things
*Heather Jane featured on Loose Canonz song “Deeper”

Now back to the big boss lol…..

Riding in the car to the CheeseCake Factory (I must say it was yummy) his rapping skills come up in conversation… so naturally, I ask to hear a little something

He opens his mouth and says….after 5minutes….and me saying “well?”….
“Oh you think I’ma rap? Get the fuck out of here, Im not gone rap” LMAO

I had never, in my life, had anyone talk to me or say anything like that EVER. But I must say…it was one of the funniest things I had heard all night (courtesy of “Dame Dash NOW presents The Dream Team )

Still that wasn’t good enough for me I wanted to know more… and more… and more… and yes you guessed it right… even more J lol

So I ask about one of the most embarrassing times in most people’s lives….HIGH SCHOOL. Lol

Im sure youre wondering what I found out…. So let me warn you now
I don’t have the juicy, embarrassing stories we all try to forget and never share ( I think you were holding back Mr. Gillings ;])

What I do have is the vision in my mind of a tall, chocolate young man that’s just a tad bit on the weird side, wearing sweat pants ALL year round up until the 11th grade with short braids lol. I know it sounds a little funny when you picture it but I can say this….He has come a loooooong way from THAT look.

One thing I found VERY interesting about “The Boss” was that he isn’t looking to push just one of his artists. He wants to push all of Straight Muzik! (Everyone has to eat right?)

So, not only does he manage, produce and is the CEO of his own production company….Mr. Gillings, as I like to call him, also dabbles in playing the trumpet and a little piano. Now ladies, how could you not be interested in ALL this? Lol, well with exception to the high school years ;P

MY closing note:
I asked Mr. Gillings a few questions for this interview, none of which really stood out to me except these last two as I was writing this blog. I guess because the answers were sincere, relatable and I think they are all something that young men and women aspiring to be in his shoes can def. understand… so for the last time…. LETS DO IT!

Smilez: How far do you want to take this?

The Boss: As far as I possibly can. This is my love. I DO THIS!!!! (lol)

Smilez: Who are you now compared to who you were before you started Straight Muzik

The Boss: Don Dada lol. This is something I knew I wanted to do. I’m a man with a mission. I see my plan and now I have to execute it.

Mashed Potatoes and Pork Loins

What a title right? I've really been slacking on my writing. Everything has been pretty uneventful so I will talk about my lovely day. (like any of you actually give a damn)
Matter fact I actually do have a topic of the day. MTA

Why in the world would the MTA decide to work on ALLLL the trains in all of New York City in oneday? I saw on the news last night and this morning that there would be delays and schedule changes...BUT HOW IN THE F DO YOU SHUT DOWN AN ENTIRE LINE? Whose bright idea was this? Especially on a saturday. I wonder every day that I am taking the train to school or home what the point is of the MTA raising the fare when we appear to be having more and more freaking delays? I swear I get so annoyed at this shit. I cant be the only one that feels this way.

What a Woman Wants (we dont really know)

As a woman, I can say that we are constantly and continuously stating what we want in a good man. But the fact is, when we find him we often don’t realize it or don’t know what to do with him. How many times have I seen a woman sabotage a relationship (myself included) with a perfectly good, well to do man because of her past experiences? Or have that one good guy in her life and not even realize it? Sometimes we find every aspect we are looking for in this one man. After all the pain, tears and heartbreak that we have been through he somehow falls into our lives. But once we have him what do we do? I know, through personal experience that despite what we say we want, we don’t always accept it when it finally comes. We say we want a good guy, but leave him for a bad boy. We say we want a lover but find more excitement with a fling. If we truly knew what it was that we wanted, how could we possibly go through so many relationships that we later regret? I can remember having a guy that I wanted for years and years and years. When I finally got him, I sabotaged the whole relationship for myself. He had everything I ever said I was looking for but I lost him. Why is that? I’ve noticed that we as women let the past get the best of us. We hold on to what once was and will not allow what could be to develop. We hold onto the fear of being hurt again, the stubbornness not to allow another man to treat us how our ex’s had and most importantly the ability to be in control. Once we open up and allow that man to get close to us, to allow those feelings to grow, to accept the relationship you to have and the feelings that come along with it we feel as though we are losing that control. We no longer think with our minds but with our hearts. So I ask the question? What do we want? If able to answer this question honestly and allow ourselves to let go and accept him when he comes…only then are we truly ready and only then do we really know what we want.

STRAIGHT MUZIK ;p

Last night I went out with Dabbz and Brice (the funniest night I have had in a loooooong time) sitting in the "restaurant" eating shrimp and fries, drinking and talking shit about every and anybody we saw. All laughs, all night.

Lets talk muzik...
discussing Dabbz upcoming release along with Showoff's and the rest of the STRAIGHT MUZIK family, Producer/manager extrodinaire Blackberry and iphoning it up all night ;) mentions one thing in particular that grabs my attention...

No sex, all music.

Brining me to the topic of the day. Music became his sex and sooo many others besides him. Have you ever found something in life that you enjoyed soo much that gave you the same pleasure as that one person that knew how to handle everything and handle you soo right your "toes curled" "body shaked" "took you to that point where youre on some 'omfg', 'mmmmmmmmm' 'lets do it over and over and over'" status? lmao... I think they (straight muzik) got that. The muzik def gives you that feeling...and they havent even attempted to get us to reach our climax yet ;)

Later that night...
Grabbed Loose Canonz mixtape "History in the Making", listened and I must say.... I was impressed! Recommending it to everyone I know.

Keep up the good work!!! Hugs and kisses to ya :)

"Food for Thought"

Today I decided to do things a little different. Im not going to talk about something I saw, how I feel about a certain situation or anything of that kind. I decided that today I'm leaving the discussion for today up to you guys. I wrote a small piece (poem) for everyone to read. Let me know what you get from it. You dont necessarily have to like it but I want to see where this can go? When reading it what do you think about it? What do you understand? how does it pertain to your life in anyway? Here we go....

"Untitled"

Healing is a process that takes TIME.
Days, months, years….
Could it be possible that I will never heal from what happened?
Could it be that you- this
Everything
has left its mark on
ME?
How could I ever forget?
Apart of my
ME in all aspects
FORGIVENESS takes STRENGTH
Am I strong enough to forgive what you already have?
What happened? How?
BROKEN.
HURT.
FADED.
Am I still ME?
Who was i? who am I now?
How could you? -How could i?
Holding on to what could have
BEEN is holding me back from realizing WHAT IS.
GONE.
FOREVER.
ETERNITY.
No return.
Pieces missing
Things will
NEVER be the same…
IT TAKES TIME TO HEAL.

"Sometimes too little is too much"

I know the guys are probably going to disagree with me on everything that I am saying but I can't help but say this.

Ladies there should be a point in time during your life that you look at yourself with respect. If you show that you have no respect for yourself what makes you believe that you will find a man that will treat you with any? It really disappoints me when I see females all over myspace, facebook, twitter and other social websites with pix of their ass, tits and half naked pix for EVERYONE to view. Save that for your man. These sites are not the victoria secret catalogues or websites. Of course the guys like to look at it but you are putting yourself and your "business" out there for the internet world to view. There is not that much attention in the world that can make you feel good about yourself by first degrading yourself in order to get it. For those females that read this and say "its sexy", "im doing it for me" blah blah blah... its not sexy at all. You can be sexy without taking all your clothes off and posting it on these sites. I do agree that you are doing it for yourself. If you feel the need to do this, its much deeper then you think you look good. Its obvious that you have some issues with yourself and youre LOOKING to get that attn you want. Youre FISHING for the compliments. This is where that saying men want " A lady in public but a freak in the bed". Thats quite literal. Save all that freak shit for your man the rest of the world doesnt want to see it. Thank you
